P R E C I P I C E
London 2010 – 2020
Starting in late 2010 with various small scale protests before photographing Occupy London on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral in 2011, this decade-long project, ‘Precipice’, focuses on the varying protests and demonstrations that take place in London on a regular basis. Photographed over ten years, this work also includes images made from inside various ‘occupations’ in the city and those that stop along protest routes to watch and spectate. This is my larger body of work documenting the coming together of people for many different causes, expressing their right to protest and demonstrate under Artlicle 11.
Article 11: 1. Everyone has the right to the freedom of peaceful assembly and the freedom of association with others, including the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests. 2. No restrictions shall be placed on the exercise of these rights ... ‘
